BYOB concerts and craft-making return to Philadelphia's Magic Gardens

Outdoor series Twilight in the Gardens will kick off in April

Every inch of Isaiah Zagar’s artistic wonderland, Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, is filled with ceramic tiles, mirrors and found objects that come together to create a colorful and unusual mosaic mural. Those interested in Zagar’s work can take a self-guided tour of the South Street gardens.

Philadelphia's Magic Gardens will bring back its Twilight in the Gardens series on Friday, April 28. Once a month through October, there will be an evening concert and craft-making in the South Philly space.

The first performance will be by Outside Sound, which is a mixed-media project that takes artwork created by adults with developmental disabilities and sets it to original music. While music plays, the artwork will be projected onto the mosaic walls.

Through the series, there will be a mix of musical genres, from jazz to psychedelic.

As for the first craft, Center for Creative Works and SpArc Philadelphia will teach zine-making and screen printing.

Attendees to each Twilight in the Gardens event are invited to bring a blanket to sit on, snacks to eat and beer to drink.

Twilight in the Gardens will take place on these Fridays:

• April 28
• May 26
• June 23
• July 28
• Aug. 25
• Sept. 22
• Oct. 20

Tickets for the kickoff night will go on sale Friday, April 14. The price is $18 per person (seniors, students and members receive a discount).
