Two fishermen were rescued by a helicopter from the Coast Guard Air Station in Atlantic City Friday as their boat was sinking in Great Egg Harbor east of Somers Point.

Officials say the Coast Guard received a 911 call around 11:30 a.m. to report a 16-foot recreational boat taking on water, according to NJ.com.

An MH-65 helicopter was diverted from a training flight in Atlantic City to rescue the fishermen at around 11:50 a.m. A rescue swimmer was lowered into the water to hoist the men from the boat.

The fishermen were taken to safety without injuries.
