Philadelphia Union signs star Mexican midfielder Marco Fabián

Not to be outdone by a splashy Thursday in Philadelphia sports, the Union made the biggest signing in club history by inking Mexican midfielder Marco Fabián on Friday.

Fabián, 29, played two seasons with Eintracht Frankfurt of the German Bundesliga prior to signing with the Union, scoring eight goals in 44 appearances.

The team announced Fabián will wear No. 10, often reserved for a team’s best player.

According to Philly.com, the deal for Fabián is a one-year deal with two club options.

Interestingly, the Union didn’t have to pay a transfer fee for Fabián. Instead, the team promised Eintracht Frankfurt five percent of any future fee if the team sells Fabián down the road.

And here's a fun fact: for the Mexican edition of FIFA 16, Fabián appeared on the cover alongside Lionel Messi.
