Police release video of emergency landing after aircraft reportedly lost power

A small aircraft landed on Route 72 in Stafford Township Sunday morning.

Stafford Township Police released a video Wednesday of a small plane landing on a busy South Jersey highway.

On Sunday, July 12, a single-engine aircraft carrying students from a skydiving school made an emergency landing on Route 72 near Route 9 in Ocean County, west of Long Beach Island.

The pilot said he was forced to land the plane when it lost power mid-air. Video shows the plane descend onto the roadway and narrowly miss cars as it merged onto the median. Watch the video here.

Police say that one passenger was treated for a minor cut on his arm, but no other injuries were reported. Police said on Sunday that the investigation into the landing would be handed over to the Federal Aviation Administration.
