Suspect smashed window, stole purse with keys, credit cards

Philadelphia police are seeking help from the public to locate a suspect who broke into a car in Fishtown and stole belongings from inside the vehicle early Monday morning.

Authorities say the incident occurred between 5 a.m.-6 a.m. in a parking lot on the 2600 block of East York Street. According to police, the suspect smashed the driver's window of a 2010 Toyota Rav-4 and removed a purse containing house keys, credit cards and miscellaneous items.

The theft was captured in a surveillance video released by the East Detective Division. After the theft, the suspect fled the scene in a dark sedan that may be a Hyundai Elantra.



The suspect is described as a white male with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket, light-colored sweatpants, and a dark baseball hat.
