Vote for Rocky Statue in bracket-style contest to find best U.S. landmarks

It's March and the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament is right around the corner. That can only mean one thing: Every media outlet and company brand will unleash a bracket-style contest to attract the public's attention.

We here at PhillyVoice are still reeling from Philadelphia's shocking defeat at the hands of Pittsburgh last year in USA Today's contest to crown the best cheesesteak in Pennsylvania. Luckily, a contest was launched this week that allows Philly to use one of its cultural icons as the perfect vehicle to exact some revenge.

Megabus, a transportation company whose American headquarters is located in New Jersey, has set out to determine which of its 16 most popular U.S. landmarks is customers' favorite destination. The bracket features obvious American treasures, including the Statue of Liberty in New York City, the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., and the French Quarter in New Orleans.

The City of Brotherly Love has plenty of attractions that are worthy of recognition.

Being the birthplace of American and all, maybe the Liberty Bell or Independence Hall was selected to represent Philly? Nope.

Perhaps the scenic beauty of Boathouse Row along the Schuylkill River was too much to ignore? Nope.

Apparently, Philly's most popular destination for Megabus customers is the Rocky Steps. The poll doesn't mention the Philadelphia Museum of Art at all.

Anyway, the statue is paired against "the trendy nightlife in Midtown Atlanta" in the Round of 16. So far, Rocky and Philly are trailing in the matchup, but it's early.

So get clicking, Philly. Voting in the bracket enters users for a chance to win four tickets to the winning destination and $250.

A date with Pittsburgh in the finals could happen.
