Watch 13 newly restored films on the big screen

UCLA Festival of Preservation makes a tour stop in Philly

The UCLA Festival of Preservation is a biennial event that showcases film restoration projects by the UCLA Film and Television Archive, which celebrated its 50-year anniversary in 2015. The Los Angeles-based festival ended in March but highlights from the showcase are being presented across North America on an 11-stop tour.

Philadelphia will be the fourth stop, where International House Philadelphia will show 13 of the films beginning on Saturday, Jan. 16. Show times vary, with a few happening in succession.

Some of the notable films being shown on the tour are Men in War (1957), The Long Voyage Home (1940), My Best Girl (1927), White Zombie (1932), The Big Broadcast (1932) and Her Sister's Secret (1946). Recognizable actors such as Bing Crosby, John Wayne and Mary Pickford will be featured.

Members of International House Philadelphia can view the films for free, but all that wish to attend should reserve seats.
