WWE announced today that Summerslam in August would emanate from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Currently the home to the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, the Barclays Center has already been the host to several WWE live events, including Raw, SmackDown, and the TLC 2012 pay-per-view since its opening in 2012.

From the press release at WWE.com:

Summerslam comes back to New York for the first time since 2002. For the past six years, the Biggest Party of the Summer has taken place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The event this year was originally scheduled to emanate from the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, but the facility was closed through 2017, when it will likely be demolished.
