Detective Kevin Cornish of the Bensalem Police Department abruptly collapsed and died during a 5k run in Northeast Philadelphia Saturday morning, according to 6 ABC.

Cornish, who was married with an 11-year-old daughter, was participating in the annual 19154 5K, which is named for the zip code of the Parkwood neighborhood it runs through.

Early indications suggest that Cornish suffered a massive heart attack shortly after the run began at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. His death came as a surprise to those who knew Cornish, who say he was a healthy man and an avid runner.

Per the Bensalem Police Department's Facebook:

It is with absolute regret that we must inform you that Detective Kevin Cornish passed away this morning. Kevin was a great person and will truly be missed by all who knew him. Please keep his family, friends and coworkers in your prayers.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
