A Chester woman is accused of leaving her pets outside in the blistering heat – where one dog died – while she was away on vacation, CBSPhilly reports.

The woman hasn’t been identified, and there is no word on how long she was reportedly away from home. An investigation is ongoing, Providence Animal Center spokesperson Justina Calgiano told the Delaware County Daily Times, with the intention to press charges.

According to CBSPhilly, authorities say a humane officer was checking the property following reports of two dogs left unattended in the sweltering heat for an extended period of time.

Following an investigation, the humane officer realized one of the dogs was chained to a cinder block. That animal died from heat-related illness at the scene, according to authorities.

Several other animals at the home were confiscated and are receiving care, including three pit bull terrier puppies, a bearded dragon and a fish.
