South Jersey activists are calling for an investigation of a fatal police shooting in Bridgeton after dash cam footage from the police car was released on Tuesday, CBSPhilly reports.
In the video, captured on Dec. 30, 2014, Bridgeton police officers Braheme Days and Roger Worley can be seen opening fire after what started as a routine traffic stop of a blue Jaguar sedan.
While the driver appeared to cooperate at first, things quickly escalated when Days talked to the car's passenger, identified by police as 36-year-old Jerame Reid.
According to CBSPhilly, Reid, "previously spent nearly 13 years in state prison for shooting at three New Jersey State Police troopers when he was a teenager, and was known by Officer Days from an arrest over the summer."
In the video, Days can be seen pulling out his weapon and pointing it at Reid. Worley raises his weapon toward the driver's side of the car.
The encounter is ridden with profanity, as the officers tell the men to show them their hands and not move. Reid eventually gets out of the car, appearing to have at least one of his hands raised.
As he takes a step toward Days, the patrolman and his partner open fire.
Officials identified the car's driver as Leroy Tutt, NBC10 reports. The video shows Tutt exiting the car and being handcuffed following the shooting.
