After obtaining construction financing earlier this month, local developer Radnor Property Group broke ground Friday on View32, a 16-story residential high-rise in University City.

The $55-million project at 3201 Race Street, designed by Erdy McHenry Architecture, will include 164 1- and 2-bedroom apartments and feature a full suite of amenities, according to Curbed Philly.

As future development plans take shape in University City, View32 will target medical professionals and educators eager to join the increasingly innovation-driven West Philly neighborhood. They'll have plenty of enticement to do so based on the building's features alone: a library, game room, fitness room, rooftop deck, community plaza and kitchen, all in addition to a gourmet kitchen and a childcare center occupying the first two floors.

A spokesman for Radnor Property Group said the project will be completed in three phases over an 18-month period, with an expected completion date in May or June 2017. An additional 12 townhouses will be constructed in the area after View32 is finished.

The high-rise is one of several towers that will eventually land in the Schuylkill Yards innovation district, a $3.5 billion partnership between Drexel University and Brandywine Realty Trust that will unfold over several decades.
