The Eagles' secondary will be a little thinner without starting corner Leodis McKelvin.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears both have very short injury lists, although the Eagles will be without two starters for their matchup on Monday Night Football.
Here are the Eagles' inactives:
TE Zach Ertz: Ertz suffered a rib displacement near his shoulder, and will likely be out of action for several weeks. In the Week 1 opener against the Cleveland Browns, TE Trey Burton was out with a calf injury. Burton had a tremendous training camp that carried over into the preseason game, and is healthy again. He'll help fill the role vacated by Ertz.
CB Leodis McKelvin: With McKelvin out and the Eagles' trade of Eric Rowe, the Eagles will be thin at corner. Throughout OTAs, minicamp, and the first half of training camp, Ron Brooks served as the starting cornerback in the base defense, and then kicked inside when the Eagles went to nickel. He'll resume that role Monday night, with Jalen Mills entering the game in nickel situations and playing outside. The Eagles could also rely on safeties Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod to cover slot receivers, as they both have cornerback skills.
• WR Bryce Treggs: Treggs was out a week ago with a knee injury. This week he's a healthy scratch.
• OL Dillon Gordon: Gordon is a versatile player the Eagles want to develop over time, but he'll be inactive for the foreseeable future.
• OL Halapoulivaati Vaitai: Again, Vaitai is a project at this point, unlikely to see the field barring injuries.
• OL Isaac Seumalo: Seumalo was a potential starter a couple weeks ago, but he watched the Browns=Eagles game on Week 1 from the sidelines, and will do so again against the Bears.
• OL Josh Andrews: Aaaaaand that makes four offensive linemen who are inactive for the second straight week.
The Bears' inactives:
The notable name above is Fuller, who was the Bears' first round pick (14th overall) in 2014. As a rookie, he had 64 tackles, 4 interceptions, and three forced fumbles. As we noted in our five matchups to watch, the Bears are very inexperienced in their secondary. Tracy Porter is the lone old head, at 30 years of age. Beyond Porter, Bears cornerbacks playing the most snaps Week 1 were Jacoby Glenn (23), Bryce Callahan (24), and Deiondre Hall (22). Their safeties are Adrian Amos (23) and Harold Jones-Quartey (23).
