On Monday the Philadelphia Eagles cut two guys, placed a guy on injured reserve, and signed three guys. Let's round up each of those moves, with a smidge of analysis.
• TE Dae’Quan Wright: Wright was a player I liked as a potential late-round pick in the 2026 draft. Instead the Eagles were able to get him as an undrafted free agent.
Wright made big plays all season for Ole Miss, with 39 receptions for 635 yards and 5 TDs. He had receptions of at least 25 yards in each of his first five games of the 2025 season, and finished with 16.3 yards per catch as a tight end. Wright has versatility, as Lane Kiffin lined him up all over the formation. He felt like a prime practice squad candidate. Apparently not.
• OG Jaeden Roberts: Roberts was Alabama's starting RG in 2023 and 2024, but he lost playing time in 2025. He has great size (6'5, 333) and scouting reports say that he was a good character guy in college, but he came with limited upside athletically.
Roberts suffered what looked like a serious injury earlier in camp, but somehow returned to the practice field a few days later. He couldn't make enough of an impression to stick on the roster through camp.
• RB Elijah Mitchell: Mitchell was a 49ers sixth-round pick in 2021. He had two promising seasons as a backup with the 49ers before a hamstring injury derailed his career. His career stats:

Mitchell was a tryout player at the Eagles' rookie camp early in May. He hasn't had a carry since the 2023 season. The Eagles placed him on IR with an undisclosed injury.
• DT David Blay: Blay attended Harry S Truman High School in Levittown. He went to college at West Chester, Louisiana Tech, and Miami.
At La Tech in 2024, Blay had 46 tackles and 6.5 sacks. He transferred to Miami in 2025, and had 28 tackles and no sacks. Highlights:
• RB Ja’Quinden Jackson: Jackson played three seasons at Utah, and one at Arkansas before signing as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He spent the entire 2025 season on the Jags' practice squad, and they signed him to a futures contract in January. They cut him in May.
At Arkansas in 2024, Jackson carried 140 times for 790 yards (5.3 YPC) and 15 TDs. Highlight reel:
Jackson is a big back at 6'2, 229. He kinda looks like a tight end on the practice field.
• OLB Tarron Jackson: Jackson was an Eagles' sixth-round pick in 2021. This is his third stint with the team:
