Hall & Oates are hosting a hoagie-themed music festival in Philly

Because of course they are

If I gave you a fill-in-the-blank math equation that looked like, say, X Philly-Area Music Artist + Y Stereotypical Philly Food Item = Music Festival, what combination would you come up with? The Roots and pretzels? Pink and cheesesteaks?

I'm sure someone would come up with the combo of Hall & Oates and hoagies. It's got some alliteration with the H's, hoagies are very customizable and therefore can appeal to broad audiences, and everyone and their mother likes Hall & Oates. In fact, I'm pretty sure the Philly-bred duo has cornered the "everybody's mother" market.

Well, if you did come up with that pairing, look no further! It's actually happening, as Hall & Oates announced Friday the launch of their inaugural HoagieNation festival. The concert is slated for Saturday, May 27, during Memorial Day weekend at Festival Pier at Penn's Landing.

Per a press release from Live Nation:

"HoagieNation is a wonderful and colorful place where the citizens are united by a love of cold meat and Amoroso's rolls," said Daryl Hall. "P.S. they ALL got soul!"

"Philly is famous for a lot of things, but the highlights just might be the amazing MUSIC and of course the HOAGIE! Well we are going to put it all together for you on May 27th at the Daryl Hall and John Oates HoagieNation festival," said John Oates. "This will be the first, this will be historic, and you NEED to be there."

In addition to music, the festival will also highlight the eclectic culture and cuisine of Philadelphia with numerous Philly-based food favorites, local craft beer and spirits, Philly personalities and other surprises.

Other artists performing include a bunch of Philly-area natives, like G. Love & Special Sauce, Son Little, Marah and Vivian Green. Also performing are Tears for Fears, Kandace Springs, Allen Stone and others still to be announced.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, March 17, at noon and will be available at Ticketmaster.com, Live Nation box offices, Ticketmaster locations or by phone at 800-745-3000.

More information on the concert can be found at HoagieNation.com.
