As the East Coast braces to feel the effects of Tropical Storm Hermine, officials in Atlantic City have cancelled two beach concerts.
Mayor Don Guardian released a statement late Friday. It said:
“Due to the significance of the approaching Tropical Storm Hermine, and out of an abundance of caution for concert goers, staff, the bands, and everyone else involved, we have decided to cancel this weekend’s beach concerts scheduled for this Saturday and Monday. Given the extreme weather conditions predicted for the beach this weekend, we were left with no other choice."
Tickets for Saturday's Florida Georgia Line and Monday's Blink-182 concert will be refunded, according to the Atlantic City Beach Concert website.
Winds for the area could reach up to 50 mph. A tropical storm watch is also in effect for the Jersey Shore and many Delaware beaches with as much as 4-6 inches in some places.
The release emphasized that casinos, restaurants and other businesses will still be open. The CRDA Wave Parking Garage will also be open from noon on Saturday until Tuesday for anyone who needs to move their vehicle away from flood areas.
