Joel Embiid undergoes successful surgery on right foot

While there was uncertainty swirling around the timeline for the anticipated surgery on his right foot, Joel Embiid stayed off his beloved Instagram for five weeks. As was reported over the weekend, the procedure happened on Tuesday and the 21-year-old center took the opportunity to hop back on social media. He informed everyone that the surgery went well:


Embiid’s post jibes with what Keith Pompey of the Inquirer was hearing. Now, the 7-footer can begin the long and extremely uncertain road back to the court in earnest. Embiid is expected to miss the entire 2015-16 season after undergoing the bone graft procedure, the second straight year he hasn't suited up for the Sixers.

UPDATE: The Sixers released a couple of statements tonight via their official Twitter account. First, Sam Hinkie talked about the group of five surgeons who were involved with today's procedure up in New York City:
