Here are some scenes from the annual Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby and Arts Festival, which was held Saturday, May 16, 2015 on Trenton Ave. bordering the East Kensington and Fishtown neighborhoods.

The Philadelphia Federal Credit Union Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby and Arts Festival will return to East Kensington on Saturday, May 21. At the spring festival, Philadelphians will parade their homemade, completely human-powered, wacky floats down the street for spectators and judges. Each float must have a theme and have wheels or moveable legs that are able to move forward, stop and turn.

Teams compete for Best Art, Best Costume, Best Engineering, People’s Choice, Best Breakdown and the Judge’s Choice Award. Expect to see some tricked out bikes and a variety of crazy costumes making their way through obstacles like mud pits, sandy patches and cobblestones.

Before, during and after the derby the Arts Festival will take place. Organized by volunteers of the East Kensington Neighbors Association there will be more than 200 local arts and food vendors from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Philly's creative side shines during the annual event. Get ready for the 2016 Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby by taking a look back at last year's floats:
