A Holmesburg man was arrested Wednesday and charged in a hit-and-run accident in Northeast Philadelphia on May 22 that left a jogger with critical injuries.

Jeffrey Soder, 34, aka Jeffrey Sickel, of the 4600 block of Kraydor Street was charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault While D.U.I., Accident Involving Injury No License, Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Injuries, D.U.I., Simple Assault, and related offenses, police said.

According to police, Soder was operating a late 1990-2000s dark-colored Saturn about 3 p.m. that Sunday southbound in the 7600 block Rowland Avenue when he allegedly struck the jogger, a 44-year-old man, from behind at Chippendale Street. The victim, who hit the windshield of Soder's car and landed in the roadway, was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital, police said.

Police had said the suspect fled south on Rowland Avenue, then east on Oakmont Street.

But investigators with the department's Accident Investigation District were able to identify Soder as the alleged driver of the striking vehicle after an intense probe, police said.

Surveillance video had captured the striking vehicle, with a shattered windshield and front end damage, immediately after the accident, police said.
