Man shot trying to break up robbery in Rittenhouse Square – reports

A man trying to break up a robbery in Rittenhouse Square on Tuesday night was shot by one of two suspects, according to media reports, citing police.

6ABC reported that the suspects were attempting to rob people in the park at 19th and Walnut streets about 9 p.m., when the shooting victim apparently intervened, according to police.

The 39-year-old man was struck by gunfire in the chest, torso and shoulder, according to CBS 3. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and reported in critical condition. His condition was later upgraded to stable, the station reported,

Police have issued the following descriptions of the suspects, CBS3 reported: the first is about 5-foot-8 with a chubby build, wearing all dark clothing; the second man was about 5-foot-11 and was wearing a gray shirt with Nike across the chest written in green.

They were last seen fleeing on foot.
