Obama to give eulogy at Beau Biden funeral on Saturday

More than 1,000 people were in attendance at the state Senate chamber in Dover on Thursday for the first of several ceremonies honoring Beau Biden, the son of Vice President Joe Biden and former Delaware attorney general who died last Saturday at the age of 46 after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.

A wake and public viewing were held Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Wilmington.

According to Biden's Facebook page, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a contribution in memory of Beau Biden should direct donations to the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children.

On Saturday, a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass will be held at the same church, where President Obama is expected to deliver the eulogy on Biden, an Iraq War veteran and father of two who had been planning to run for governor in Delaware after having served two terms as state attorney general.

You can watch President Obama's remarks live at 10:30 a.m. via The White House here:

At Thursday's service, Delaware Gov. Jack Markell presented a posthumous Delaware Conspicuous Service Cross, which is awarded for heroism, service and achievement.

Burial will be at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
