The view from Drexel Park is one of University City's many highlights.

One report took a look at the best college towns in which to have a car, and it has some bad news for students in Philadelphia.

The report, released by ValuePenguin, a personal finance website, ranked Philly as the third-worst place to keep a car in while in college, following Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Seattle. The company considered affordability, safety and convenience as factors.

ValuePenguin took a close look at University City, home to Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania, where "city parking is quite bad (and expensive)," hiking up car insurance costs, thus making Philly the most expensive place to keep a car in at $12,394 for the academic year.

While Philly didn't make the top five on the "least safe" list, it did rank third on the report's least convenient list. The report measured convenience by looking at average commute times, parking quality and the quality of the roads.

ValuePenguin looked at 105 universities and colleges across the nation. Harrisonburg, Virginia; Logan, Utah and Statesboro, Georgia, were ranked the top three college towns in which to keep a car.
