Philly police – again – patrolling in pairs following Baton Rouge shootings

Philadelphia police will once again be doubling up during patrols following the shooting of six police officers in Baton Rouge on Sunday, CBSPhilly reports. Three of those officers died.

The procedure was in place earlier this month following the shooting deaths of five Dallas police officers.

In order for the city's 6,600 officers to patrol in twos, officers may have to temporarily change their patrol beats, Police Commissioner Richard Ross told CBSPhilly.

It’s unclear how long the policy will remain in place.

Speaking at a press conference earlier this month following the Dallas shootings, Ross said the department is “prepared to deal with just about anything that comes up."

As for the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia next week, Ross told CBSPhilly that the department is “working with the feds and state law enforcement, adjusting where they have to, to ensure everyone’s safety.”
