Montco police arrest 7 men in raid for failing to pay child support

Officers arrested seven men for failing to pay a total of more than $70,000 in child support during an early morning raid on Wednesday. The defendants will appear before a judge.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced the arrests Wednesday after the raid attempted to round up a list of 27 defendants who, combined, owe more than $400,000 in payments for a total of 41 children. Fourteen deputies, including two K9 units, targeted Norristown, Collegeville, Phoenixville and Pottstown, and other areas in Berks and Chester counties.

Those arrested were responsible for supporting 13 children. One of the defendants, James Licwinko, owed the most child support, with $36,447.67 in arrears for two children.

The raids, conducted regularly as part of an operation started in April 2014, has obtained 958 warrants for defendants who fail to appear in court for not making child support payments. About 360 defendants have turned themselves in thus far.

As always, we encourage defendants to turn themselves in so that they dont have to see their name and picture plastered all over television and social media, said Montgomery County Sheriff Russell Bono.

Five men on the list who were not arrested are now on the department's "most wanted" list for domestic relations. Those defendants can be viewed here

Those looking to submit a tip on any of the defendants can do so by calling 610- 278-3340 or through the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office website.
