Two women charged with arson, attempted kidnapping after fire at Washington Township home

Two women have been charged with arson and attempted kidnapping following a fire at a home in Gloucester County Thursday night, 6ABC reports.

The blaze started shortly after 8:30 p.m. Thursday at a home on the 800 block of Lafayette Court in Washington Township.

A couple and their four grandchildren were in the single-family home at the time of the incident, according to police.

The women, identified as 32-year-old Lynette McGuire and 33-year-old Denise Coyle, cousins from Bensalem, Pa., allegedly tried to abduct McGuire's 3-year-old daughter from the child's grandparents' home. The girl was reportedly staying there with three of her siblings.

Prosecutors say they then set the home's garage on fire and fled.

McGuire and Coyle were charged with aggravated arson, attempted kidnapping and burglary.

Crews reportedly spent more than a half hour trying to get the fire under control.

No injuries were reported.

McGuire and Coyle are being held in default of $100,000 bail each, 6ABC reports. Additional charges were pending.
