If you forget your umbrella at the end of your work day, it wouldn't be the worst thing.

The Philadelphia region is seeing a soggy Friday, with possible thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, according to the National Weather Service, which warns that the showers and thunderstorms could result in heavy flooding throughout the entire tri-state area.

Showers will mainly last until 2 p.m., but up to a half-inch of rain is possible with a slight chance of showers again after 10 p.m. It'll be a muggy one, too, with Friday's high expected to reach 84 degrees before dropping to 71 at night.

The storms could carry on into Saturday, mostly before 2 p.m. with the mercury climbing to about 90 degrees.

Good news is ahead, though, as the storms move away from the area Saturday afternoon.

AccuWeather forecasters predict that while severe storms could slam parts of Western Pennsylvania, nothing but blue skies and sunshine will cloak Philadelphia and most of South Jersey.

A sweep of dry air will mean less humid air for the region, making for quite the comfortable weekend.

“Highs ranging from the 80s to middle 90s F with high humidity will be replaced with highs ranging from the lower 70s to the middle 80s with low humidity,” said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Alex Sosnowski in his Friday forecast

Saturday night's low will reach a cool 66 degrees, making way for a sunny Sunday with a high around 86 and a pleasant 66 degrees at night.

Temperatures down the shore will be even cooler, with Atlantic City reaching just 82 degrees on Saturday

Monday may be the region's last day to enjoy the nice weather, with sunny skies and high near 88 in the forecast before chances of showers and thunderstorms could be in play from Tuesday until Thursday.
