The Eagles are traveling to Berkeley, CA, to work out Cal quarterback Jared Goff privately.

According to John Middlekauff of 95.7 The Game in San Francisco, the Eagles are conducting a private workout with University of California quarterback Jared Goff.

Of the consensus "top three" quarterbacks in the 2016 NFL Draft, Goff has been the player least often connected with the Eagles. Before the Eagles traded up from 13 to 8, Memphis' Paxton Lynch was often linked to the Eagles. More recently, there have been rumors that the Eagles might be interested in trading up for North Dakota State's Carson Wentz.

Back in July, we published a detailed review of Goff's game.

One of the negatives analysts point to about Goff is that he is skinny. To look at him, the perception is that he's going to get killed in the NFL. However, in the games that I've watched of him, Goff took some big shots and always seemed to pop right back up. He may have a frail-looking build by NFL standards, but he's tough. To look at Eli Manning, you would never guess he's one of the toughest guys in the NFL, but that's exactly what he is.

From what I've seen of Goff, he has better accuracy than Wentz or Lynch, but clearly not the same type of arm strength. However, Goff's lack of elite velocity is offset some by his quick release once he decides to let it rip.

Both Doug Pederson and Jeffrey Lurie have made it fairly clear the Eagles will be selecting a quarterback at some point during the 2016 NFL Draft, and the first round is as every bit likely as any of the others.
