A Chester County school district is the best in the country, according to niche.com, which provides grades in a number of areas, including academics, educational opportunities, administration, food and health, and fitness.

In its recent 2016 Best School Districts in America, the website says the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District beats out school districts from Austin, Texas, Oyster Bay Town, New York and New Trier Township, Illinois. The website claims to make choosing a school or college a more "transparent process."

A school district in Princeton, New Jersey was ranked at number five on the list.

Richard Gusick, superintendent of the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, said the school community was proud of the recent honor.

“We are very proud to have been ranked as the [number one] public school district in America by Niche.com. Our mission statement is to inspire a passion for learning, personal integrity, the pursuit of excellence and social responsibility in each child. This mission drives our rigorous curricular and extracurricular educational program," he said in an emailed comment.  "This #1 ranking is made possible when a talented, committed staff, supportive parents and an engaged community come together to teach the best kids anyone could ever hope to serve."

The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District made headlines recently when four middle school students were charged for allegedly sharing nude photos of a 13-year-old girl and engaging in cyber-bullying
