The 2017 Warship Olympia Tattoo Arts Convention will take place July 21-23 on the decks of the historic Cruiser Olympia at the Independence Seaport Museum.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the nautical roots of American tattoo traditions while aboard a naval ship.

A traveling tattoo exhibit will showcase antique tattoo equipment, original tattoo flash by early American tattoo masters and photos of sailors and their tattoos.

Also, those who want new ink can meet with artists aboard the ship and get tattooed live at the convention. More than 100 tattoo artists will be present.

Some will be creating their work the old-school way, using acetate stencils from the original collection of Philadelphia tattoo hero "Crazy Philadelphia" Eddie Funk.

Below are the convention hours.

• Friday, July 21 - 2-11 p.m.
• Saturday, July 22 - 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
• Sunday, July 23 - 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Tickets, which will be sold at the show, are $20 per person or $40 for a three-day pass.
