Watch Jake Voracek’s awesome goal set to Jake Voracek singing Bruce Springsteen

Nobody likes preseason overtime. The players don’t want it, the fans don’t want it, and boy, do the journalists ever not want it.

That said, Monday night’s bonus hockey between the Flyers and New York Rangers was worth it for a couple of reasons: There were only 27 seconds of it, and Jake Voracek scored an absolute doozy to send everyone home. Against an all-star defenseman in Ryan McDonagh, this is close to as good as it gets:

“It worked out, there was a lot of room, if you beat the guy you have a good scoring chance, I kind of blacked out after that,” Voracek said.

Speaking of blacking out…

Voracek is a pretty big Bruce Springsteen fan, so much so that he caught The Boss and the E Street Band live in multiple cities this summer. Thanks to the wonderful world of social media, Jake shared part of his experience on the East Rutherford leg of “The River Tour.”

There are a lot of highlight reels on YouTube, but very few have the athlete performing background vocals (Come to think of it, Allen Iverson is probably somewhere on the internet, crossing over fools to the tune of “40 Bars”).

Let’s change that today. Here’s Jake Voracek… and Jake Voracek:
