Fifty-eight teachers at high schools in the Philadelphia School District will be honored Tuesday by the Lindback Foundation.

The teachers – one from each district high school – will be presented the Distinguished Teaching Award created by the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation on Tuesday afternoon at the Prince Theater in Center City. Each teacher will receive $3,500 from the foundation.

The honorees were nominated by their colleagues and students, and endorsed by their principals for the prestigious award, which was bestowed annually since 2008.

Schools Superintendent Dr. William R. Hite, School Reform Commission Chairwoman Marjorie G. Neff, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and Lindback Foundation Trustees Sheldon M. Bonovitz, David E. Loder and Reginald J. Middleton will attend the presentation.

The foundation recently honored seven principals at district schools.
