From a numbers perspective, the Eagles' roster turnover isn't as drastic as you might think

During the 2013 offseason, a quarter of the NFL (eight teams) changed their head coaches. Those teams were the Chiefs, Bears, Jaguars, Chargers, Bills, Browns, Cardinals, and of course, the Eagles.

Much has been made of the drastic roster churn the Eagles made, including by me, as I've kept a tally of the former Andy Reid players who have gotten whacked this offseason:

However, of the eight teams to hire a new head during the 2013 offseason, by my count only one has more players remaining from their 2012 roster:

• Bills (15): Cordy Glenn, Eric Wood, Mario Williams, Marcell Dareus, Kyle Williams, Nigel Bradham, Leodis McKelvin, Aaron Williams, Stephon Gilmore, Chris Hogan, Kraig Urbik, Fred Jackson, Corbin Bryant, Ron Brooks, Marcus Easley.

• Eagles (14): Jason Peters, Jason Kelce, Brandon Graham, DeMeco Ryans, Riley Cooper, Brandon Boykin, Dennis Kelly, Julian Vandervelde, Cedric Thornton, Vinny Curry, Brent Celek, Fletcher Cox, Mychal Kendricks, Jon Dorenbos

• Chargers (13): Philip Rivers, Malcom Floyd, Antonio Gates, Kendall Reyes, Corey Liuget, Donald Butler, Melvin Ingram, Eric Weddle, Johnny Troutman, Ladarius Green, Darrell Stuckey, Mike Scifres, Nick Novak.

• Browns (13): Joe Thomas, Alex Mack, John Greco, Mitchell Schwartz, Craig Robertson, Joe Haden, Tashaun Gipson, Travis Benjamin, John Hughes, Phil Taylor, Billy Winn, Tank Carder, Johnson Bademosi.

• Chiefs (12): Jeff Allen, Donald Stephenson, Jamaal Charles, Dontari Poe, Justin Houston, Derrick Johnson, Tamba Hali, Dustin Colquitt, Eric Berry, Allen Bailey, Cyrus Gray, Junior Hemingway.

• Jaguars (11): Marcedes Lewis, Tyson Alualu, Paul Posluszny, Austin Pasztor, Chad Henne, Andre Branch, Ryan Davis, Bryan Anger, Josh Scobee, Justin Blackmon.

• Cardinals (10): Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, Bobby Massie, Calais Campbell, Patrick Peterson, Dave Zastudil, Mike Leach, Justin Bethel, Rashad Johnson, Daryl Washington

• Bears (7): Alshon Jeffrey, Jay Cutler, Matt Forte, Tim Jennings, Robbie Gould, Shea McClellin, Sherrick McManus.

It took Chip Kelly a little longer to completely overhaul the Eagles' roster, and when he did, he did so with authority. However, the low number of players left from the 2012 roster isn't at all that out of the ordinary for a team with a coaching change.

The biggest difference with the Eagles, obviously, and this is an educated guess here, is that none of the other teams lost five players who have appeared in the Pro Bowl in one offseason.
