The Franklin Institute unveils new exhibit: 'The Science Behind Pixar'

Tickets are now on sale for the newest exhibit at the Franklin Institute, which will open March 12. "The Science Behind Pixar" gives visitors an inside look into Pixar Animation Studios filmmaking, using activities inspired by beloved films like "Toy Story," "Monsters Inc.," "A Bug's Life" and "Inside Out."

More than 40 interactive exhibit elements will showcase the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts used by the artists and scientists who help bring the films and their unforgettable characters to the big screen.

The exhibit will be separated into eight different categories: modeling, rigging, surfaces, sets and cameras, animation, simulation, lighting and rendering. Each is a different part of the filmmaking process.

Visitors will also be able to pose with life-size Pixar characters.

The exhibit will be at the Franklin Institute, the first stop on its national tour, until Sept. 5.
