McGinty resigns as Wolf chief of staff, expected to run for Senate

Katie McGinty resigned Wednesday as Gov. Tom Wolf's chief of staff, reportedly to run for a seat in the U.S. Senate.

Wolf accepted McGinty's resignation, according to Pennlive.com.

She has not yet announced a Senatorial candidacy. That declaration is expected within weeks, according to the National Journal.

McGinty, who ran for governor in 2014, would challenge Joe Sestak in the Democratic primary next spring. The winner is likely face incumbent Republican Sen. Pat Toomey, who narrowly defeated Sestak in 2010.
