Military air security drills Tuesday in preparation for pope

Military air drills are expected to take place over the Philadelphia area between midnight and 2 a.m. Tuesday in preparation for Pope Francis’ visit to the city in two weeks.

A spokesperson from the Continental U.S. Aerospace Defense Region told CBS Philly the drills are being conducted so that responders can become familiar with the area.

Flight restrictions for the weekend of the pope visit are also underway and the Coast Guard will also be enforcing boat restrictions on the Delaware and Schuylkill within the security zone, CBS Philly reports.
