Lifeguards to compete in Red Bull Surf + Rescue event in Atlantic City

Who will be crowned the Eastern Shore's strongest beach patrol?

The Red Bull Surf + Rescue competition is looking for the Eastern Shore's strongest beach patrol. 

Fifty four-person teams from New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia beach patrols will go head-to-head on Tuesday, July 18, in Atlantic City.

The evening event, now in its third year, is free to watch from the boardwalk or beach.

There are four rounds in the competition, with teams being eliminated after each round.

• Round One: 4x250-meter swim relay
• Round Two: 
4x500-meter paddleboard relay
• Round Three: 
2x400-meter run relay and a 1x750-meter doubles row
• Round Four: 
Consisting of a 250-meter swim, 500-meter paddleboard relay and a 750-meter doubles row

The final eight teams compete in Round Four.

Red Bull Surf + Rescue will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m. Afterward, there will be a party at LandShark Bar & Grill.
