The Springfield School District is nearing a decision on the future of its high school.

The Delaware County district is considering four possibilities for Springfield High School, including two proposals to construct a new building. The district also may opt to renovate or maintain its current facility.

The two proposals for new facilities — on separate locations — would cost $131 million to $136.4 million, according to a presentation posted to the district's website. Renovating the current facility would cost $133.8 million, while maintaining it would cost $100.3 million.

The duration of the projects ranges from 36 to 60 months.

The district's facilities committee has recommended building a new facility along Saxer Avenue, according to the Delaware County Daily Times. That proposal, according to the presentation, would cost $131 million and be completed in 36 months.

A final public hearing on the issue will take place Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The monthly meetings began in October.

It is unknown when the Springfield school board will make a decision, the Daily Times reported.
