Three Pennsylvania colleges rank in top 25 of Forbes' annual list

Forbes has released its annual ranking of 660 American colleges, and three Pennsylvania schools have landed in the top 25.

They are (in order of the highest-ranked) Swarthmore College, the University of Pennsylvania and Haverford College.

According to the list, Swarthmore College landed in the top 10 – ranked No. 10 – with tuition listed at $64,363 and a total student population of 1,542, just beating Penn, which was ranked No. 11.

Penn’s tuition is listed at $66,800 with a total student population of 24,806.

Also in the top 25 was Haverford College, ranked at No. 23 and costing $66,648 with a student population of 1,194.

The top three colleges for 2016, in order, were Stanford University, Williams College and Princeton University, the last located nearby in New Jersey.

After Princeton, the next New Jersey college on the list is Rutgers University  at No. 141 (Tuition: 45,788).

University of Pennsylvania easily fared best among its Big 5 rivals, even when Drexel University is added to that group.

According to Forbes, factors that went into consideration when creating the list included student satisfaction and student debt, among others.
