Tom Corbett returns to school

The former governor is now teaching college courses at St. Vincent College and Duquesne University School of Law

Tom Corbett has returned to the classroom in a pair of teaching jobs similar to those that kickstarted his career decades ago.

Corbett, the former Republican governor ousted last year by Democrat Tom Wolf, is teaching at St. Vincent College and the Duquesne University School of Law, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, which sat in on one of Corbett's law classes.

According to the newspaper, Corbett "pulls no punches" in discussing the legislative process:

He smiles, cracks jokes about the process of bringing complex policy initiatives to fruition in Harrisburg, and engages in a brisk give-and-take with second- and third-year law students.

Corbett taught high school history within the Pine Grove School District in the early 1970s before embarking on a legal and political career. He ascended to serve as Pennsylvania attorney general before being elected governor in 2010.

Corbett finds himself teaching – a bit earlier than he expected, the newspaper reported – after losing an election in which his education policies were heavily scrutinized

"I always thought I'd do this at some point. I thought that would be four years from now, but I guess God always has a plan," Corbett said, smiling.
