Not the granola bars! Nutritionists divulge some unhealthy truths

Frozen yogurt's findings will also freeze you in your tracks

It seems we Americans have been duped.

Frozen yogurt isn't actually ice cream's good-for-you cousin. And most granola bars also get a poor nutrition report, according to a group of nutritionists who are members of the American Society for Nutrition (aka they are legit).

The New York Times recently polled both nutritionists and normal Americans about how healthy they considered more than 50 different foods, from pizza to apples and a whole lot in between.

What they found was both scary and sad for both our waistlines and for the apparent lack of knowledge of the American people.

According to The Times' poll, the nutritionists and average Joes pretty much agreed on what's very bad for you (think soda and pizza) and what's very good for you (think fruits and veggies).

But where the two groups diverged was on some foods that you can probably find in your lunch bag – on a day when you're trying to be good!

In their findings, The Times also noted that "no food elicited a greater difference of opinion between experts and the public than granola bars. About 70 percent of Americans called it healthy, but less than 30 percent of nutritionists did."

But wait, there's a silver lining here. The experts also pointed out some foods that they considered healthier than the average American thought, like wine! and hummus!
