'Stupid' job opening in Philly: Tell PPA to leave us alone

Craigslist posting asks for someone reliable 'and not an idiot'

Parking tickets issued by the Philadelphia Parking Authority are scattered on the front seat of a truck illegally parked in the Mayfair neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia.

Part-time work, depending on your skill set, can be tough to come by.

Many part-time jobs — from the service industry to nannying to my own craft, journalism — often require some previous experience. You could drive for a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft, but that can wear on your car — if you have a vehicle in the first place, that is.

In Philadelphia, there's currently a part-time job opening that has one important qualification: Don't be a moron.

The job listing, posted to Craigslist on Tuesday, is entitled: "this is a stupid job, but at least it pays weekly."

The person who posted the job wrote that they need someone to be available for an hour and a half every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m. to tell the Philadelphia Parking Authority to leave their delivery truck alone.

The day starts at 800 block of Chestnut Street, heads next to 20th and Market and makes two more stops before the day is over. It pays $50 a day — not bad for less than two hours of doing verbal battle with PPA agents trying to hand out tickets.

The ideal candidate? "Must be reliable, and not an idiot," the post reads.

We reached out to the person who posted the job but have yet to hear back.
