Roots2Rise brings yoga to where it is 'not traditionally available'

Yoga classes in Manayunk act as fundraisers

This summer, find weekly yoga in Manayunk through Roots2Rise. On Saturdays, head to Venice Island at 8 a.m. for an early workout, or go on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. to the Manayunk Bridge for a pre-brunch session.

Drink specials at Lucky's Last Chance will be available to yogis after Sunday classes.

The mission of Roots2Rise is "[to make] yoga and mindfulness accessible to populations, demographics, and communities where it has not been traditionally available."

To support that mission, the organization asks for $5 donations at both Saturday and Sunday sessions. All proceeds go to funding volunteer projects, such as teaching yoga to male inmates at correctional facilities or providing yoga to women and children in Philadelphia shelters.

Manayunk class attendees should bring their own mat, water and towel.
