The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, perennially ranked among the best in the nation, is once again featured prominently in the 2016-17 U.S. News and World Report ranking of top children's hospitals.

The national survey, released on Tuesday, placed eight of CHOP's clinical programs in the top three among 10 specialties and gave the hospital a second overall nod on its Honor Roll.
“To be ranked among the top pediatric hospitals is an honor, which reflects our commitment to provide the optimum care for every child and family we serve,” said Madeline Bell, president and CEO of CHOP. “The level of clinical excellence among the hospitals evaluated makes our inclusion gratifying and I am proud of our dedicated and talented physicians, nurses and clinical support staff for their efforts on behalf of our patients."
Pediatric rankings are gathered using a detailed survey of key clinical and operational data from approximately 180 hospitals. Scores are based on surveys of more than 10,000 board-certified pediatric specialists who are asked where they would send the sickest patients in their specialty. Only 78 of the 183 hospitals surveyed were ranked in one or more specialties.

Cancer: Third
Cardiology & Heart Surgery: Third
Diabetes & Endocrinology: First
Gastroenterology & GI Surgery: Third
Neonatology: Second
Nephrology: Seventh
Neurology & Neurosurgery: Third
Orthopedics: Second
Pulmonology: Fourth
Urology: Second
In the Honor Roll, CHOP trailed only Boston Children's Hospital, which held the top rank in seven out of the survey's 10 specialties.
Among the best adult hospitals in the United States, the Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian came in ninth on the Honor Roll and first in Pennsylvania. Thomas Jefferson University Hospital was ranked fourth in Pennsylvania, Hahnemann University Hospital was ranked 10th, Pennsylvania Hospital was ranked 16th, and Temple University Hospital was ranked 28th.
