Philadelphia Flyers right wing Tyson Foerster (71) is restrained by linesman Julien Fournier (56) during the third period against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center.
A day after Tyson Foerster injured his arm in last Monday's loss to the Penguins, Flyers general manager Danny Brière said he expected his forward to miss about 2-3 months.
Turns out, Foerster will be out much longer, and possibly until the 2026-27 season.
On Wednesday, Brière announced that Foerster underwent surgery on his arm Monday and is expected to be sidelined five months, which would keep him out until mid-May. The Flyers' final regular-season game is April 14, which means they're expecting to be without Foerster for the rest of the regular-season and longer.
Injury update: After further medical consultation and diagnostic testing, Philadelphia Flyers forward Tyson Foerster underwent successful surgery on his arm on Monday, Dec. 15.

After that Pens game, Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters that everyone would have to play "five percent better" to make up for Foerster's absence. But the Flyers have gone 3-4 since Foerster's injury, and now they'll have to be without him even longer than they initially anticipated.
They beat the Canadiens on Tuesday, 4-1, and have a road game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.
