Joel Embiid will be out through at least the weekend.

According to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic, Sixers superstar and reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid has been diagnosed with a displaced flap of his meniscus in his left knee.

According to Charania, Embiid is now deliberating between getting surgery on the knee and missing "extended time" or resting and rehabbing in hopes of an earlier return.

Embiid initially hurt his knee in Indiana on Jan. 25, causing him to miss the next game against the Denver Nuggets — despite not being listed on the injury report prior to that game — and an additional game. Embiid returned last Tuesday against the Golden State Warriors and looked like a shell of himself before Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga landed on Embiid's knee diving for a loose ball, creating an entirely new injury in the same knee.
