22-year-old man killed in shooting in Kensington; 2 others wounded

Two suspects were taken into custody after shots were fired on the 2500 block of A Street on Wednesday evening, police say.

A shooting in Kensington left one man dead and two people wounded on Wednesday, police said.

The shooting occurred on the 2500 block of A Street at 5:08 p.m., police said. A 22-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds throughout his body and was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital at 5:18 p.m.

A 16-year-old boy had two gunshot wounds in the torso and a 34-year-old man was shot twice on the lower right side of his body, investigators said. They were taken to Temple University Hospital for treatment and are in stable condition, police said.

Police said they have two suspects in custody and recovered a weapon at the scene. The shooting remains under investigation. 

Police have not released the names of the people who were shot or the people taken into custody, or detailed the circumstances that led to the shooting. 

There have been 86 homicides in Philadelphia this year, a 34% decrease from the same point in 2023, according to police statistics
