Kids can visit the Penn Museum for free during winter break

Children can get up-close look at ancient artifacts, make art and learn about historic cultures

Families looking for an educational activity while the kids are off from school can head to the Penn Museum, where children can explore historic cultures from all over the world. 

Children under age 17 receive free admission between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, through Friday, Dec. 30 as part of the museum's "Winter Break" activities.

Winter Break at Penn Museum allows families to escape the winter chill as they embark on indoor adventures exploring the museum's many galleries.

Each day, art-making will be held in the Asia Galleries, and the principles of Kwanzaa will be discussed at 11 a.m. in the Egypt Galleries. Up-close looks at ancient artifacts will be offered during Daily Dig presentations at 1 p.m.

Free treats will be offered at noon in the "Cookie Zone," while supplies last.

Visitors also can glimpse the newest exhibits, "Eastern Mediterranean Gallery: Crossroads of Cultures" and "U-2 Spy Planes & Aerial Archaeology."

All Winter Break activities are included with museum admission.
