Independence Beer Gardens opens again this year on Wednesday, April 12 at 3 p.m.

When Independence Beer Garden opens Wednesday for its ninth season, guests will find several new menu items.

Mac & cheese bites, a spicy caesar salad, a lamb pita and an Impossible chicken sandwich are among the new food options. The menu also brings back everything pretzels bites, buffalo cauliflower, the turkey BLT, the double cheeseburger and pickle chips.

Pastry chef Abby Dahan's expanded dessert menu will feature new entries like watermelon sherbert push pops, cinnamon-sugar pretzels with spiced chocolate, funfetti ice cream sandwiches and caribou crunch popcorn with peanut, toffee and marshmallow.

The Old City beer garden, at 100 S. Independence Mall West, has 40 taps of regional and domestic craft beers along with wine, cocktails, seltzers and non-alcoholic options. The 20,000-square foot, open-air concept has four seating areas, two bars, a projector TV and a range of games to play.

Initially, guests can order food on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3-10 p.m, Fridays from 3 p.m. to midnight, Saturdays from noon to midnight and Sundays from 12-10 p.m. The bar stays open an additional two hours each night. Happy Hour runs daily from 3-7 p.m.

After Memorial Day, the beer garden also will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays. It will host live DJs for outdoor dance parties on Fridays and Saturdays.
