Joel Embiid said he was sick after the Sixers' loss to the Miami Heat on Monday night.

Joel Embiid (illness) has been ruled out for the Sixers' road contest against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night, according to the team's injury report for the game, which was updated at 11:15 a.m. local time.

Embiid, who missed 13 consecutive games before returning to action on March 25, had played in three consecutive Sixers games – two wins and one loss. He told reporters from The Philadelphia Inquirer and Sixers Wire after the team fell short on Monday night in Miami that he was sick, though the Sixers never listed him as having an illness on any injury reports before the game.

On the Sixers' initial injury report for Wednesday's game, Embiid was once again not listed in any capacity. But after the team's morning shootaround at Capital One Arena, Embiid was ruled out with his illness.
