Nittany lion busts a move with a young dancer at THON 2016.

Penn State University's annual THON dance-off, where thousands of students and volunteers shake and bake for 46 consecutive hours, raised $9,770,332.20 at this year's "Believe Beyond Boundaries" event, the student-run philanthropic group announced Sunday afternoon.

Proceeds from the event, held each February at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College, will go to the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State's Hershey Medical Center, which supports pediatric cancer research and families experiencing financial hardship. In addition to the non-stop dancing, activities at the event included a Wigs for Kids hair cut and a nursing station where students spent time with young cancer patients to ensure that they took their medication.

On Saturday night, special guest Leah Still, who overcame her cancer battle last year at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, led a pep rally alongside her father, Penn State football alum Devon Still.

While this year's total fell short of last year's $13.34 million, the event has raised more than $127 million since it first began in 1977.

By the looks of the photos that came out of THON 2016, the event was another success that in a proud tradition of charity and community.
